IOS
Individual organization of studies (IOS) means that the dean, in consultation with the instructors of individual classes, determines an individual manner of realizing and settling the study plan in a given semester/academic year. IOS cannot mean that a student is exempt from the obligation to achieve the same learning outcomes as well as pass credits and take examinations. In particularly justified cases, the dean may grant the student, upon request, the right to an individualized study arrangement (IOS). This may concern documented cases in particular:
- health
- random
- care of a close disabled person
- related to periodical studies outside the University of Łódź.
IPS
Individual Plan and Program of Education (IPS) enables enrichment of the student's knowledge in the field of study or related fields, changing some subjects into others, possible shortening of the period of study.
Detailed rules for IPS are defined in the IPS Regulations.
The Individual Plan and Programme of Study (IPS) may be applied for by particularly gifted and outstanding students, who have obtained an average grade of at least 4.5 from the previous course of study. IPS may be granted (at the earliest) from:
- the second year of the bachelor's degree;
- the first semester of the second cycle studies.
Decisions on granting the IPS are made by the Vice-Dean upon the student's application. The student attaches a schedule of his/her individual study plan approved by the IPS Supervisor to the application.
A student who does not properly complete the IPS may be directed by the Vice-Dean to continue his/her studies as usual. A student may also resign from continuing an individual study plan on his/her own initiative. The Vice-Dean then sets the deadlines for obtaining the missing credits and taking the missing examinations prescribed for the particular course of study.
