Generation-A. Niezwykły pokoleniowy projekt badawczy genetyków UŁ

Evaluation of the quality of life of residents of Aleksandrów Łódzki and the surrounding area and an attempt to understand how genetic, environmental and social factors affect health and the quality of life of current and future generations – these are the main goals of an innovative research project called Generation-A. It is being carried out by scientists from the Biobank Laboratory, University of Lodz.

The project participants 

The project participants will include families living in the Aleksandrów Łódzki commune, whose representation consist of 5 people (not necessarily directly related) from three generations (children, parents, grandparents or other relatives) can take part in the project. 

Benefits for families participating in the project

Participation in the research project provides family members participating in the Generation-A project with free access to advanced diagnostic tests and personalised health reports. Additionally, workshops on career counselling and intergenerational communication will be organised for all interested study participants.

Assumptions and goals of the project

Genetic and survey studies conducted with the participation of families willing to take part in the project will allow for the determination of trends in healthy eating in the population of Aleksandrów Lodzki. They will also make it possible to create a description of the epidemiological profile of the local community in terms of mental health, as well as an analysis of the local community's occupational involvement and the resulting risks in the context of the unstable socioeconomic situation of recent years. Based on the results of the genetic study, the researchers will create individualized mental health prevention programmes for families. The aim of the University of Lodz researchers from the Biobank Laboratory is also to create a digital collection and databases accessible to science.
