An information poster about the event

LEAM is an international scientific conference that annually brings together a wide group of outstanding specialists – scholars, researchers, theoreticians and practitioners of politics, economy and culture of Asian countries. Over the years, we have hosted over 480 researchers from almost 50 countries, enabling them to participate in intense scientific discussions and build a valuable epistemic community.

This year's edition of LEAM will focus on the topic "International Relations in Asia – the Roles of State and Non-state Actors in Asia". The conference will be an opportunity for intensive discussions on the dynamic changes in the international structure that are taking place in Asia. The region is currently undergoing significant transformations, both politically and economically, which makes the role of state and non-state actors increasingly complex and significant.

The LEAM 2024 conference will be a unique opportunity to explore and analyse these changes and their impact on Asia's future on the international stage. Participants will have a chance to listen to inspiring lectures, take part in discussion panels and establish valuable contacts with other specialists in the field of international relations.

The opening lecture by Dr Simon Curtis from the University of Surrey will be one of the key moments of the conference. Dr Simon Curtis, the author of the book entitled "The Belt and Road City: Geopolitics, Urbanization, and China's Search for a New International Order" (Yale University Press 2024), will present his latest research on China's Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on global geopolitics.

Prof. François Jullien, who is a renowned philosopher, a sinologist and a Hellenist will be another special guest of the conference. He will deliver a lecture entitled "Passer par la langue-pensée chinoise pour relancer la philosophie". Prof. François Jullien is one of the most translated contemporary thinkers in the world. He has positioned his work between the thoughts of China and Europe developing intercultural reflection as well as the philosophy of existence.

The conference programme also includes special thematic sessions that will explore, i.e., the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on developing countries and the issue of strengthening ties between India and Europe in a changing global landscape. During the conference there will also be a meeting with Jeremy Garlick, the author of the book “Advantage China. Agent of Change in an Era of Global Disruption”, Bloomsbury Publishing 2023.

We would like to invite all those interested in Asian topics to participate in this unique event. LEAM 2024 is a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge, exchange experiences and establish valuable contacts with experts from around the world.
