Prof. Piotr Krajewski, Habilitated Doctor of Economics and Associate Professor at the University of Lodz, specialises in issues related to budget policy and public economy. He defended his doctoral dissertation on the causes of budget deficit, supervised by Prof. Marek Belka, in 2005. He obtained his habilitation degree in 2013 at the University of Lodz, presenting a monograph on the impact of tax policy and public spending on the Polish economy.
He is the author of numerous scientific papers and expert opinions prepared for the needs of public institutions, including opinions on the budget act for 2023, prepared at the request of the President of the Senate Budget and Public Finance Committee. Prof. Krajewski headed the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the years 2015-2018. He has been a member of the Expert Council of the Green REV Institute led by Dr Sylwia Spurek since 2021.
Institute of Economic and Financial Expertise in Lodz
The Institute of Economic and Financial Expertise in Lodz is an organisational unit subordinate to the Minister of Justice. The Institute issues opinions in the most difficult cases concerning economic crime, which are characterised by a significant degree of complexity, high value of damage, serious social consequences or a precedent-setting nature.
The Institute is a budgetary unit that conducts scientific and research and development activities, including in the areas of economics, finance, accounting, taxes and customs, capital markets, banking, insurance, business activity, ownership transformations and economic cybercrime. The Institute's task is to prepare expert opinions, issue opinions at the request of courts, prosecutors and other entities authorised to conduct proceedings based on the law, in the course of which expert evidence is admissible.
