The aim of the project is to develop and supplement the current scope of scientific knowledge regarding the life situation of adolescents with intellectual disability and their families. The study will enable us to look at people with intellectual disability from the perspective of their abilities to fulfil social roles assigned to adults, as well as the problems of their families and how they deal with the difficulties, limitations and doubts they encounter, which increase as children with intellectual disability reach adulthood.

The undertaken research topic has an interdisciplinary dimension, as it is at the intersection of interests of representatives of various scientific disciplines, such as sociology, pedagogy, psychology, and psychiatry. It concerns issues that may constitute a significant contribution to the development of these disciplines. The research results are intended to contribute to the development of theoretical knowledge in the area of issues related to people with disability, as well as methodological knowledge regarding the use of specialised software supporting the analysis of qualitative data.
