Schedule of the Textile Worker's Day Celebration
An outdoor exhibition based on the archival resources of the Museum of the Factory will be available at the Manufaktura Shopping Centre market square, presenting the activities of former textile workers and how they spent their free time.
The Museum of the Factory will host the opening of the exhibition "WŁODZIMIERZ PARYS – an artist in a large factory" at 1:30 p.m. It will feature fifty-six photographs, which have never been published before, from the private collection of Artur Parys, taken by his grandfather Włodzimierz Parys in the 1970s. The photographs, taken using analogue technology, survived in the form of negatives. Artur Parys scanned them with extraordinary care in 2025. They show the Julian Marchlewski Textile Industry Plants from the 1970s. The artist paid particular attention to the work of women – textile workers. The stirring photographs present not only the performed activities, but also captured fleeting moments such as glances, smiles, concentration and contemplation. Taking photographs on the premises of the plants and in the production halls in the 1970s was a precedent and required permission. Hence the uniqueness of these photographs. The place where the factory operated is currently the Manufaktura Shopping Centre and the Museum of the Factory. During the opening we will identify the places where the photos were taken on the plan of the former factory.
